Students at H D Crull Elementary were able to get their blood pumping on Friday, March 21st at our weekly Friday assembly. As a treat, we had Mrs. McElwain teach the students and staff some awesome Zumba moves. For the last song, the students who go to our after school program made up their own dance moves and shared it with the rest of the school. What a fun time!
Mrs. Fiedler's fifth grade classroom shared an impromptu "March is Reading Month" activity at our Friday assembly this week. The students decided yesterday what they wanted to share with the whole building and used their indoor recess to practice. Amazing job 5th grade! Today we had an author, Lane Walker, visit our second through fifth grade students. Mr. Walker is a Michigan principal and children's author. He has three published adventure novels that are set in nature. Prior to his visit to Crull Elementary, our fantastic friends at Literacy and Beyond (LAB) bought every student in grades second through fifth a copy of one of Mr. Walkers three adventure novels. Mr. Walker presented to students during a 45 minute assembly about how they can do anything they put their minds to. It was high energy, and had our students laughing, dancing, and excited to learn! Thank you to Mr. Walker and LAB for bringing us this amazing experience for our students. At Crull we had a special guest, Genot Picor, who is an expert in Port Huron Native American history. He visited the third and fifth graders, telling traditional tales, showing authentic Native American artifacts, dressing students in wool and animal skins, and answering questions. Thank you Genot Picor for visiting us!
